Non-count and count quantifiers

Lượng từ của danh từ đếm được và danh từ không đếm được.

Lượng từ là những từ đứng trước danh từ để chỉ số lượng hoặc lượng bao nhiêu của danh từ không đếm được, hoặc số lượng hoặc bao nhiêu của danh từ đếm được. Bạn hãy nhớ rằng amount và how much là nói tới danh từ không đếm được còn number và how many nói tới danh từ đếm được. Chúng ta hãy xem những ví dụ dưới đây:

Danh từ đếm được

"The students have a tremendous amount of work to complete before the end of the year."
"His fuel gauge was not working, so he didn't know how much gas was left."

Danh từ không đếm được

"The number of people in the club exceeded the maximum occupancy."
"I don't remember how many times I have been to New York."

Có một số lượng từ chỉ dùng được với những danh từ không đếm được. Ví dụ: a little, not much, little, or too much.

Cố một số lượng từ chỉ dùng được với những danh từ đếm được. Ví dụ: few, many, several, or a couple of.

Có một số lượng từ dùng được cho cả danh từ đếm được và không đếm được. Ví dụ: some, a lot of, plenty of, or enough.
